Process of Respiration

In this blog, we will try to understand human respiration. Respiration can be defined as the transport of oxygen  from the outside air to the cells within tissues, and the transport of carbon dioxide in the opposite direction.

We will try to understand the process of respiration, with a neat diagram to explain it:

 1)  Inspiration:
Inspiration process is when muscles attached to ribs and diaphragm contract together, increasing the volume of the thoracic cavity laterally and dorso- ventrally.
   2)  Expiration:

Expiration is a passive process. The muscles of diaphragm and other muscles attached to ribs relax, the diaphragm becomes convex and ribs attain their original shape. T

I hope this was useful, send me your comments and suggestions.
